SELF-SERVICE HELP
A clear view of your website.
Getting started
Sign in using the email address for your trial or subscription. Add your website’s HTTPS address once. We begin at the homepage, read its robots policy, discover internal links and read XML sitemaps. Results appear as checks finish. Existing individual page records are preserved within their website.
What is checked, and how often?
The homepage is scheduled hourly. Other discovered pages and discovery sources are scheduled daily. Checks are processed in a queue, so larger websites take time to complete and service errors can delay results. Each result has its own last-check time; overdue results are labelled.
We inspect the HTTP response and initial HTML, following up to five HTTPS redirects within the website. Persistent HTTP errors and missing titles are retried twice before an email alert can be confirmed. A successful response and title are labelled “Page checks passed”; that does not mean every feature of the page works.
What information is in the report?
Each page shows its observed status, title, description, first H1 and heading count, redirect chain, final address, canonical tag, robots directives, response-time sample, image count and images missing alt attributes. We also count discovered internal and external links and show which inspected pages link to the page. Duplicate titles are flagged among the discovered results.
SEO and accessibility observations are suggestions for review, not a ranking score or complete audit. A noindex directive may be intentional. An empty alt attribute may be correct for a decorative image. Response time is a sample from our checking server, not a browser speed test.
Can this check every page?
Discovery follows links and sitemaps for the website’s hostname, including its www address. The beta supports up to 100 discovered pages per website, and five websites per account. A visible warning appears when additional pages exceed the allowance. We cannot guarantee finding pages that are unlinked and absent from sitemaps.
We respect robots.txt. Blocked pages are shown as excluded, not passed. If robots.txt is temporarily unavailable, crawling waits for recovery. An unusually long crawl delay (over ten seconds) pauses crawling. Content requiring login, browser JavaScript or interaction is not inspected. Query-string URLs, downloads, external websites, forms and checkout journeys are outside this crawler’s coverage.
To keep checks bounded, we inspect up to 256 KiB of HTML and 200 links (16 KiB of link addresses) per page. Discovery reads up to twenty uncompressed XML sitemaps, each up to 256 KiB and 500 entries. Truncated HTML, discovery errors and allowance limits appear in coverage details. A sitemap not found at the default address is normal; link discovery continues.
A broken page or link was found
Open its report and look at “Linked from” to find pages whose inspected HTML contains the link. Restore the destination, correct the source link or add the appropriate redirect. A page from a sitemap may have no discovered incoming links. The service reports problems; you or your developer make repairs.
A check could not complete
This can mean DNS, firewall, TLS, redirect or response-size problems. It is not proof that the website is offline. The next scheduled check tries again. Old results remain labelled with their check time.
Basic and Advanced views
Basic shows availability, page health, next steps and alerts. Advanced adds technical page findings, response-time charts, precise counts and discovery details. Your chosen view is remembered in this browser. Both views use the same data.
What does availability mean?
Availability is the percentage of recorded attempted checks whose final HTTP response was successful (200–299), after any retries. A missing title or SEO observation does not make a responding page unavailable. HTTP errors and inconclusive checks reduce the percentage; an inconclusive check does not prove an outage. Robots exclusions and off-site redirects are not attempted availability checks and are excluded from the denominator.
A 100% result means all recorded attempts succeeded. It does not prove uninterrupted uptime between hourly or daily checks. Periods without checks remain unknown and appear grey. Sample counts and exact date ranges are displayed. The homepage is shown separately because its hourly checks are more frequent than daily page checks; the all-page percentage is weighted by check count, not page count.
Choose 24 hours, seven days, 30 days, 90 days, a year or All history. Longer windows begin at midnight UTC. Charts use UTC and may include partial first/last periods. The entire retained reporting window is used, not just the latest 100 history rows. Select a chart bar to see counts. Response-time averages use only successful checks with saved timing data; older checks may not have timing data. We do not infer downtime minutes or continuous uptime from these samples.
Exporting and history
“Download page report” saves the current website’s discovered page results as a CSV file. Individual check results, all findings recorded for each new check, and alerts are kept for the lifetime of the monitored website, including while a subscription is inactive. Charts aggregate the results without deleting their details. Use Your complete saved history to filter by dates or page address, browse older records and download all matching checks or alerts across one website or your entire account. Deleting a website deletes its history. Previously deleted records cannot be recovered. Older records may contain fewer fields or exist only as summaries from the previous retention policy. Missing details cannot be recreated. The current result remains on each page. History markers represent recorded checks, not continuous uptime.
Sign-in help
Email links last fifteen minutes and work once. Check your junk folder and use the email address from your purchase. Allow a minute after checkout for activation; wait one minute before requesting another link.
Alerts
Confirmed check issues generate at most one email per page and issue each UTC day. SEO suggestions and robots exclusions stay in your dashboard. The email outbox is processed hourly. Email failures remain visible; the beta’s shared email allowance can delay delivery. “Sent to email provider” is not a guarantee of inbox placement.
Certificate expiry
Certificate-expiry monitoring is not enabled. HTTPS connection errors may cause an unavailable check, but this does not identify an expiry date or confirm the reason for a TLS error.
Billing, cancellation and launch
New subscriptions are not open yet. Existing provisioned accounts can sign in. Use Manage billing to open your secure Lemon Squeezy portal, or the link in your receipt. Cancellation stops monitoring immediately unless another active subscription remains. Saved reports remain available while retained.
The free-tier beta has a total capacity of ten websites across all accounts. This is a bounded early service, not an unlimited plan.
Removing a website
Remove website deletes its discovered pages and saved monitoring history after an explicit confirmation. This does not cancel your subscription. Use Manage billing to cancel.
Customer assistance
Use these guides and your dashboard for help. For account questions, contact support@websiteoversight.com. Billing is self-service through the secure portal. There are no live chat or telephone support channels.
Email delivery
Emails use authenticated sending, a readable message and plain-text fallback. Delivery feedback records acceptance by your mail server, delays, rejection and complaints. Acceptance by a mail server does not confirm placement in your inbox. After a permanent rejection or spam complaint, further emails to that address are paused to protect delivery reputation. Website monitoring and saved reports continue; an existing signed-in session can still access the dashboard. A new sign-in still requires receiving an email. If a sign-in email is missing, check Junk and search for Website Oversight before requesting another. Genuine messages come from alerts@websiteoversight.com.
Your free trial
The seven-day trial begins when you confirm your email and select Continue. It includes one website and up to 100 discovered pages, with the same Basic and Advanced reports and history. No card is required and there is no automatic charge. At expiry, scheduled monitoring and alerts pause, but you can still sign in and read or export saved history. A paid subscription on the same email keeps the account and its existing results.
One trial is allowed per email and website. We retain a trial-use record linked to the account; removing a website does not remove that eligibility record or restart the trial. Website addresses are normalised so www, letter case and page paths cannot be used to repeat the same website trial. Some email aliases are also recognised. Signup request limits and beta capacity apply. Different subdomains can represent separate websites; this is an abuse safeguard, not proof of website ownership. Add only websites you own or are authorised to monitor.
